"In The Loop"
February 2010
Well, it is finally here. Junior High Choir Mission Trip is 1 week away! Currently we have 79 students and 36 adults going on the trip! I wanted to remind you of a few important items and dates that are coming up:
Ministry Overview
- Friday: Travel day to Houston
- Saturday: Galveston hands on mission day and concert. Beach cleaning, serving homeless and serving the elderly, and a concert.
- Sunday: Two morning services at First Baptist Baytown. Afternoon evangelistic concert at Kemah Boardwalk. Evening concert at the Harris County Youth Village.
- Monday: Travel day back to Prestonwood
Medical
- If your child takes prescription medication on a regular basis, you’ll need to fill out a medicine administration form for each prescription
- Each parent needs to complete an over-the-counter medication permission form.
- Click HERE to download these forms. All forms MUST be turned into the trip nurse before departure to Houston on February 12.
What To Bring
One bag packed with:
- 1-2 pairs of long jeans
- Yellow and Red Mission Trip shirts (provided)
- Black or White long-sleeved t-shirt to wear under the provided t-shirts.
- Please try to wear Prestonwood t-shirts, if possible (Freedom, camp, previous choir mission trips, Chaos, etc...) for the bus ride and down time.
- An old pair of jeans, work gloves, tennis shoes, and t-shirt for ministry work day.
- Solid black outfit for all Sunday concerts (similar to the outfit worn for Fall Follies).
- LADIES: Black pants and long-sleeved black shirt or blouse (preferred), or black skirt (knee length or longer), closed-toe black shoes. NO flip-flops, jeans, or tight shirts.
- GUYS: Black pants, long-sleeved black shirt, black shoes, black socks, black belt. NO jeans, flip-flops, short-sleeved shirts, shirts with writing on them, striped shirts, brown belt, brown shoes.
- Appropriate sleepwear
- Comfortable clothes to change into once we return to the dorm
- Sleeping bag packed in a bag that is clearly labeled with the student's name
- Pillow
- Toiletries
- Bath towel
- Shower shoes
- Jacket / hoodie
- Backpack
- Money for souvenirs while at Kemah Boardwalk
- Tennis shoes and socks (NO flip-flops)
- Bible and pen
Other Items:
- Cell phones are permitted; however, students will be instructed to power-off their phones during ministry times.
- iPods will be allowed ONLY while traveling to and from Houston. iPods will be taken up if a student is seen using the device at any time while in Houston.
Schedule
- Sunday, February 7 - No choir rehearsal (Freedom Weekend)
- Tuesday, February 9, 6:00-8:00PM in the Orchestra Room - Rehearsal for soloists and dancers ONLY.
- Thursday, February 11, 6:00-9:00PM in the Student Worship Center - Full choir rehearsal!
This is a mandatory rehearsal. We will be giving out the two trip t-shirts and discussing the final preparations needed before we depart the next day!
- Friday - Monday, February 12-15 - Mission Trip!
Check-in time on Friday is 4:45PM. Meet in the front atrium of Prestonwood Plano.
We will depart promptly at 5:30PM
- Sunday, February 21, 2:30-3:30PM - Homecoming Concert in the Student Worship Center
This will be a great time for friends and family to celebrate all that God accomplished in and through our junior high students' lives!
I pray that this gives you a good heads-up on all that is going on this February in Junior High Worship. I am very excited about what is in store over the next 10 days! Please be praying for your students and the choir over the days to come: for safety, opportunities to share Christ, and to stand bold and lead others in worship!
